How to Live In A World Blinded by Thought?

What does it mean to live in a world blinded by thought?

To the author it means living according to systems. What is basically meant by a system is a set of check boxes, do’s and don’ts, rights or wrongs, or in other words, laws.

There are laws everywhere, the laws of the country, the laws of the state, the laws of the city, the laws of your hometown, and the laws in your head, and they’re all systems.

One set of laws the author is facing at the moment are the laws of employment, and in particular, hiring. This system of laws is usually called a “hiring process”, and like any system is comprised of a set of check boxes where one either meets some sort of “criteria”, or not.

When one goes for a job, they are subject to this system which is comprised of a set of “binary choices”, so in this way, it appears no different than a computer program. So basically the hiring process appears to just “feed” people through this systematic hiring process, having faith that the process will yield the most favorable results.

The problem with any system is that they are mightily confined and limited precisely because they consist of a defined border of “do’s” and “don’ts”. Therefore, the system is only capable of a limited number of different possible responses to any given life situation it may encounter. Because of this there’s no room for anything new as only repetition in behavior is able to occur. So because of this, potential employers may miss glaring, shining, potential right in front of them because the system, with its confined nature, does not allow them to see it. The candidate either fits into a particular box or they don’t.

In this way, systems wind up having the effect of blinding us. they blind us from seeing the whole picture. They blind us from being able to evaluate the “whole human being” sitting before them looking for employment, and instead the system insists that the human be examined through a very narrow and myopic lens. Again, because the nature of a system is to focus on a certain things, it naturally misses other things out of focus that may be of immense benefit and value.

Systems appear to have a very tiring, and almost debilitating effect on a human being. They appear to sap and drain energy as a result of their limited, confined, repetitive, contradictory, and conflicting nature. Contradictory and conflicting because a system does not allow for anything new, therefore our very essence as unlimited, ever-changing beings winds up at odds with the limited, and repetitive nature of a system. Systems will also invariably come into contradiction and conflict with one another, again furthering the misery.

And so we basically live our lives according to, and inside systems. We live inside a series of closed boxes where the root closed box, or system, is called “I”.

Furthermore, being blinded by these systems of thought means forever comparing “what is” to the past…, to “what was”. Forever measuring, weighing, and judging based on these comparisons. This process robs us of the ability to “see”, or observe exactly what is directly in front of us in any given moment.

Not being able to see what’s directly in front of us in the present moment then means we cannot act or respond completely and totally accordingly to the needs of any given moment. Not being able to completely respond accordingly to the needs of the moment due to this state of being blinded by thought, we continue to live a tortured existence on down through the ages of our time here on this planet.

Is any of this true?

Please look to see if you can see what is being point to here for yourself. Observe like a scientist, impartially. If you’re partial to something other than what it is you’re observing while you’re observing, then you’re probably not really observing, and if you’re not observing then you have no chance of “seeing” and then really changing.
