The “mechanistic” and “repetitive” nature of thought

All Systems Of Thought Breed Conflict

We will never know true psychological freedom and freedom from conflict by following any habit, method, or system of thought.

The following of any guru, teacher, organized religion, institution, etc., and the living according to a certain belief, dogma, ideology, formula, principle, etc., will inevitably lead to conflict and suffering.

One might then ask the question:

“Why would a seemingly intelligent species such as humanity, repeatedly engage in something that causes it to harm itself?”

If the reason is for anything like “certainty”, “assurance”, or “security” then a most vicious trap of the dualistic nature of reality is entered into.

Let us explore a bit further…

Beliefs, dogmas, ideologies, principles, etc., all form a kind of “system” in that they’re all defined with definite borders. A system may be described as a sequence, or set of very definite “do’s” and “don’ts”. Life may also be viewed as it’s own “system”, independent of man and those created by thought. Therefore, life has its own set of “do’s” and “don’ts”. When we try to impose any set of man-made “do’s” and “don’ts” on life in the form of some system, method, ideology, etc., we inevitably wind up in conflict.

In addition, consisting of defined or prescribed “do’s” and “don’ts” means systems are limited, or enclosed.

  • Being enclosed implies a form that is circular in nature
  • A circular form combined with the fact that thought is a movement implies circular motion.
  • Circular motion then implies repetition.

Therefore, belief systems can only ever produce repetitive thoughts, and by extension repetitive behavior just like a machine or computer program.

The direction of this circular motion of thought as a “line of thinking” automatically creates an opposite direction naturally as “the opposite line of thinking”.

This oppositely directed line of thinking is basically the negation of the thought, belief, ideology, etc..

This negation then forms the basis of “the opposition” to the position that the line of thinking is taking.

This is the trap of the dualistic nature of reality.

The thing that seems to be being missed here by most is that the notion of a belief system of any kind existing requires that it be conceptually defined, and once this is done an opposite, or “negative cut-out” of sorts, must also be created at the same time as each side is required to define the existence of the other. This phenomenon is similar to that of a photographic negative. Therefore again, when any particular belief system is created, it automatically creates its opposite as it must in order to exist.

This co-created opposite then becomes a source of conflict as long as we continue to move in any direction of belief. It exists as a constant source of contention as the “thing to be avoided at all costs”. The undesirable, unaccepted, or unacknowledged.

We then double-down in the direction of the belief system in an effort to vanquish its opposite but it is the ultimate chimera as the very movement in one direction will always create its opposite. It in essence amounts to the ultimate exercise in futility as we are engaged in the fighting of our own reflection.

Is any of this true?
